Lynda Monk's book 'Fabulous Surfaces' really scores here as her main 'ingredient' is tissue paper. You just won't believe what she achieves with tissue, old dressmaking patterns and wrapping paper.  Lynda presents her ideas in an easy to understand, step-by-step format to make sure that the concepts are clear. Then she gets going with paints, transfer foils and some surprising special effects.

By now, you will be ready to extend the basic tissue method and Lynda will include construction techniques such as those for the 'falling books' shown right. Rusting, printing and distressing tissue paper gives results which are both surprising and fascinating. Texture is not overlooked and Lynda has some great new ideas for heat-sensitive polyester tissue. Further texture is achieved by sculpting and cut-outs. How can you resist?
